We used rotary power sweeping with mechanical whips to break it loose, then ran a second camera pass so they could see the bare terra cotta. Burning season started two weeks later. A Larchmont Woods family called in October because smoke was backing up into the den. We found a squirrel nest above the smoke shelf, packed with leaves and acorns from the oak canopy that shades those streets. The Bonnie Crest home was built in 1927 with original clay flue tiles. Our camera found spalling, gaps between tiles, and one vertical crack running twelve inches. Water-Damaged Smoke Chamber, Glenwood Lake Area

Glenwood Lake homes catch wind off the water, and water finds its way in. This smoke chamber had lost most of its parging, the corbelling was uneven, and draft was poor enough that the fireplace barely drew. We parged the chamber with a refractory mix to restore the proper slope, then swept the flue above. The difference in draw was immediate. Neglected Flue, Downtown New Rochelle Condo Conversion

A downtown building converted to condos in the 1990s, and this unit’s chimney had not been touched since. We found packed soot, chunks of fallen liner, and a cap that had rusted through. We cleared the debris, swept the flue, and ran a full Level-2 inspection with photos for the condo association’s records. No work was recommended that we couldn’t show on camera. The Ward Acres homeowner burns oak and maple from their own property, and they book us every September before the first fire.
